Suicune is a water-type legendary Pokemon that, along with Raikou and Entei, is one of the legendary beasts resurrected by Ho-Oh. The game mascot of Pokemon Crystal, Suicune represents the rains that extinguished the flames of the Brass Tower, a location in Ecruteak City. Suicune also is meant as a representation of the north winds, following these winds in order to travel in search of water to purify. Suicune was designed alongside the other two Legendary Beasts by Muneo Saitō, with Suicune being designed in order to have a “leopard-like” motif. Suicune also has a design similar to a variety of mythological creatures, specifically a Kirin/Qilin from Chinese and East Asian mythologies and Fūjin from Shinto mythology. Known for its grace, Suicune is the least feline-like of the three Legendary Pokemon, with more mythical elements compared to the other, more animalistic beasts.

Appearance of Suicune
Suicune is a four-legged Pokemon resembling a Kirin (a combination of the dragon, deer, big cats, and unicorns that exist within Chinese and East Asian mythologies). Suicune is a mixture of blue and white, with its body being mainly blue. Suicune has white diamond shapes on its limbs as well as a white face and underbelly. It has a purple mane resembling the aurora borealis and white, ribbon-like tails which both exemplify its connection to the north winds.
Behavior of Suicune
Suicune follows the north winds as a means to travel, in search of water to purify. Stoic and calm, Suicune is believed to be the closest of the Legendary Beasts to Ho-Oh, as well as an embodiment of both the north winds by which it travels and pure spring water. Suicune can purify water simply by touching it as well as increasing the strength of the north winds.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Suicune has a high defense and special defense stat, as well as a high HP stat. Like other legendaries, Suicune has a higher total base stat than most non-legendary Pokemon. Overall, as a defense-based Pokemon, Suicune can survive a lot of damage in battle, allowing Suicune to battle as a setup sweeper with less fear of being knocked out. As a water-type Pokemon, Suicune is strong against fire, rock, and ground-type Pokemon and is weak against electric and grass-type Pokemon.
Shiny Suicune
The Shiny Suicune version of Suicune replaces the purple hues with other shades of blue. In order to get a Shiny Suicune, luck is the main aspect in terms of encountering a Shiny Suicune.
Best Moveset for Suicune
Due to its high defense, Suicune makes a solid setup sweeper, since it can survive multiple moves in order to build its stats before attacking. Calm Mind helps to boost Suicune's Special Attack and Special Defense in order to prepare its attack. Blizzard serves for type coverage as well as its high attack. Since it does not access to health recovery moves Suicune has to depend on Leftovers or Rest to regain health, as well as using Protect to waste opponent PP. For the purpose of a setup sweeper strategy, the best ability for Suicune is Pressure, which activates when Suicune is the target of an opposing Pokemon's move, causing that move to lose one additional PP. Finally, Scald works as a solid STAB (same-type attack bonus) attack move in order to deal heavy damage to an opponent.
